FAQ’s

How old does my child have to be to cheer?
Cheerleaders must be 7 and under age 16 on August 1st.

Where are practices held?
Practices will be held at Tri-State Cheer in Havertown, PA. Additional practices may be held at additional facilities reasonably located and will be given at least 1 week’s notice of practice location.

How much does it cost?
There is a $125 registration fee. Beginning on June 1st there will be an $80 monthly fee with the last payment due on February 1st. These fees do not include competition travel expenses and optional apparel for purchase.

Are there tryouts?
No. There are evaluations in May prior to the season. This is strictly used for team placement. It is fun and stress free!

Do I have to buy my uniform?
We highly recommend and encourage every cheerleader to buy his/her own uniform. Uniforms will be available to use during the year with a dry cleaning fee.

When are practices?
Practice dates and times are not yet finalized. Most likely we will practice twice a week (1 weekday practice and 1 weekend practice.) Each practice will be approximately 2 hours in length. In addition, each cheerleader will be required to participate in a minimum of 1 hour a week team tumbling through Tri-State cheer.

How many competitions will we be attending?
We will be competing at approximately 4-5 local/regional competitions and 1 National competition.

Will we be cheering for a sports team?
No. Main Line Cheer is a competition recreational cheerleading squad. In addition, we will participate in local community events.

Will there be fundraisers?
Yes! We will be holding monthly fundraisers. Each cheerleader will be required to participate in at least 3 fundraisers.

What is the parent involvement?
Parents are asked to support the organization at all events. Crowd participation is a huge part of our competition score sheets.  We also require parents to participate on one committee. Our parent support will help our team run smoothly.  These committees could involve creating spirit items, assiting with a fundraiser, administrative tasks, spirit bags for competitions, etc.

How long does the season run?
Typically the season begins in May with evaluations. Cheerleaders are strongly encouraged to enroll in year round tumbling classes or private tumbling lessons. Optional clinics, practices, and other events may be held from March through July. Practices begin August 1st and run through February. Competition season typically begins in November and ends in February.
